We all know the benefits of a workout, but does it go beyond the physical aspects and changes? The answer is absolutely. There are so many underlying benefits from a regular workout that you don’t see.
A Happier You
It genuinely will make you a happier person! When working out, your body releases endorphins that make you feel better and reduce the feelings of anxiety, stress and depression. Studies have shown that those who suffer anxiety have suffered from lesser symptoms post workout, while also feeling happier at the end of it.
Energy Level Boost
While you might use a lot of energy during your workout, in the long run you will find you have more energy throughout the day. There have been studies to prove that people struggling with fatigue or chronic fatigue showed less after a six week period of regular exercise. It helps to build up your levels so that when you’re not exercising, your body can sit at a restful heart rate, leaving you feeling less fatigued.
Sleep
Regular exercise is the best medicine for a good sleep. Exercising during the day can keep you bright eyed when you need it, but slow you right down during the time you need sleep. It promotes a better cardiac rhythm which keeps you less restless when trying to sleep also. A study found that those who exercised more than 150 minutes a week (30 a weekday) had a 65% improvement in their sleeping pattern.
Brain Health
It has been proven that regular exercise can improve your brain health and memory. A study showed that exercise boosted the size of the hippocampus, the area of the brain that is responsible for learning new things and memorizing them. So for those of you who are forgetful, grab those runners and get out on the trails! You’ll notice the difference.
These are just some of the underlying benefits of regular exercise, and obviously there are plenty more! You can’t go wrong if you can get 30+ minutes of exercise in each day, you’ll notice the difference almost immediately and won’t want to look back.
